An emergency job fair for former Lee Brass workers was held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, by East AlabamaWorks, working in partnership with the Calhoun County Economic Development Council and the Anniston Career Center. Over 20 local employers took part in the job fair. The abrupt closure of Lee Brass in Anniston recently has resulted in nearly 150 workers seeking new job opportunities. Thankfully, there is a diverse range of job openings in the community, and employers are eager to connect with the highly skilled workers formerly employed by Lee Brass.
The job fair event also featured sessions with the Alabama Department of Commerce Rapid Response team. The team is called in when companies close or have significant layoffs. They offer employees information about filing for unemployment, education and training, and many other resources to help families during their transition period.
