The group began the day at Gadsden Regional Medical Center learning about career pathways and training in the medical field with presentations from Gadsden Regional CEO, Mark Dooley, as well as the hospital's Chief Nursing Officer, Traci Howard.
The group also heard from Etowah County's Project SEARCH program that is based at Gadsden Regional. Project SEARCH provides young adults with developmental or physical disabilities a chance to explore careers and learn transferable job skills through internships with Gadsden Regional.
Following lunch at Gadsden State Community College's Cardinal Cafe, the participants spent the afternoon touring the school's Healthcare education and training facilities on the George Wallace Drive Campus.
The December session of the Educator Workforce Academy will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the area's Construction and Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics sectors.
